SAYCON SENGBLOH JOINS ME FOR A BEASTING ON BEAUTY HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN
It was all a dream... Sitting in my first day of AP History looking around feeling confused... I thought I was in an AP class? Why are there so many other black people in my class? Realizing quickly that it never dawned on me that I had gone to schools where I was one of only 2 black kids in honors classes. Schools where blackness was always the coolest, most athletic, and damn sure the most fun, but never the leaders in education... only a select few. I leaned over and said, "Hey am I in the right class? Is this AP US History?"
This cute chocolate drop of a girl with the warmest smile welcomed me and said that yes indeed I was in the right spot... "Wowww ok! Let's goooooo! I'm with it! " was my mindset. I was ready for a change. That moment alone was the start of a 30 year friendship.

There is so much history between us, countless productions as we performed at Tri-Cities High School V.P.A. which was nothing short of "Fame". It was amazing! We both starred in "The WIz" she being Glenda and I, Evilene, of course lol. I actually won Best Supporting Actress in our Regionals for that role... As my Grandma Bertie Mae would say "Hot Stuff", in her high pitched southern drawl. We also both were apart of arguably one of the top youth performance companies in the country The Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta... Argue with ya mammy lol. We not only performed, we learned about world affairs and various of cultures. We were indoctrinated into the world of artists who used their art to stand in protest, to love humanity, and to feel deeply. We learned to stand for something! Thank you to all of our brothers and sisters that walked that walk with us... shout out to Y.E.A.!
After graduation I decided to take on make up as a part- time job while stlll performing, and Saycon decided that she wanted Broadway.... her first audition homegirl was Mimi from Rent! DID YOU HEAR ME.... FIRST BROADWAY AUDITION!!! She started as a star... Saycon has always been a star, my friend was most attractive, and voted Prom Queen! What can I say, but she is amazing!
So after being in New York for 20 plus years the south was calling her home, but of course that star power will show up with her... she got the part of "Lillian" in Wonder Years the Reboot. That was amazing to see her come home and handle being being on you tv screen weekly. Well about that time I was developing my new line Show Out and of course it was already written in the stars that if I ever had my own line my friend Saycon would be one for the beautiful faces that would grace the cover.
Well today she is on the cover... today a manifestation is checked and we both rejoice. We both have done it, we both have lived the lives we have chosen, we both have touched the hearts of many, and we have maintained to be beautiful inside and out while doing it... this is what BEASTING ON BEAUTY is all about!
Saycon is promoting our fabulous holiday glosses and gifts sets. We have two sets that are very necessary! They will make the absolute best stocking stuffers!
